Ballroom Dancing Workshop

September 12, 2018 //  by Lynn Tulip//  Leave a Comment

Saturday / 2-2:30pm / King Edward Hall

Ballroom dance is a set of partner dances, which are enjoyed both socially and competitively around the world. The workshops aims to provide a brief introduction for beginners:

Waltz began as a country folk dance in Austria & Bavaria and was introduced in England in the early 19th century. It is a smooth progressive dance characterised by long, flowing movements, continuous turns, and rise & fall.
Quickstep is an English dance and was invented in the 1920s as a combination of faster tempo of foxtrot and the Charleston. It is a fast moving dance, the couples move in short syncopated steps. Quickstep includes the walks, runs, chasses, and turns with some other fast figures such as locks, hops, and skips.

Hosted by Tracy Brooks, Senior Instructor & Principal of Horsham Dancers Club, Tracy has been dancing over 40 years and teaching just over 25 years. She is a Fellow and Examiner for UKAdance and licensed BDC Scrutineer.

All ages welcome, a partner is not essential but desirable.
