Larynx of Lindfield

September 23, 2018 //  by Lynn Tulip//  Leave a Comment

The Larynx is the epitome of Lindfield Primary Academy’s community spirit. A PTA-related tour de force that started life in the playground. School run chatter between parents conceived the idea of an all singing, all dancing choir open to all parents, grandparents, teachers and staff. The idea proved popular and in April 2015 The Larynx was born. Since then the choir has grown in confidence under the guidance of Hereward Kaye. Thanks to the support of all its AMAZING members, The Larynx has raised more than £2,000 for the school.

URC Meeting Room 1 [ground floor]

Do you remember the last time you connected with Nature?
Was it fleeting and forgotten?
Was it lingering and profound?
Phenomena of Nature are omnipresent.
We all make the choice to listen and feel,
or allow ourselves to become unNaturally Numb.

Illustrated talk about Grace Kimmins founder of Chailey Heritage

September 22, 2018 //  by Lynn Tulip//  Leave a Comment

Hear the amazing story of Grace Kimmins (1870 – 1954), a forceful, charismatic woman who established a pioneering craft school for the disabled at Chailey in 1903. She instilled in the pupils a determination to focus on what they could achieve, not on what they couldn’t.

The Chailey Heritage Foundation, which was founded as the Chailey Heritage, is an English charity that owns and runs the Chailey Heritage School. It was founded out of the Guild of the Poor Brave Things in 1903 by Dame Grace Kimmins.

The foundation specialises in support of children and young people with complex physical disabilities and health needs – predominantly through the Chailey Heritage School. There will be a collection for Chailey Heritage at the talk.

Luca Brugnoli

September 22, 2018 //  by Lynn Tulip//  Leave a Comment

Luca is an eight year old boy with a passion for singing and drama. In January 2018, he auditioned and was accepted into the all boy English vocal group Libera directed by Robert Prizeman. A pupil of Cumnor House School, he is an ordinary eight year old boy playing football, climbing trees and going through the work required of him. He has been involved in several local festivals and won the school in house music competition judged by the director of Brighton College. With a quirky, cheeky-sense of humour he aspires to singing on stage one day, the song hallelujah by Leonard Cohen being one of his favourites.

Lyrics
Now, I’ve heard there was a secret chord
That David played, and it pleased the Lord
But you don’t really care for music, do you?
It goes like this, the fourth, the fifth
The minor fall, the major lift
The baffled king composing hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah….

The Memory Man

September 22, 2018 //  by Lynn Tulip//  Leave a Comment

A man is forced out of his home, leaving his friends, family and community. He chooses 10 of his most treasured possessions to take with him to remind him of the life he is leaving behind.

Using humour, stories and circus, this fiercely energetic show looks at what it means to be pushed out of what we know to an unfamiliar place with unfamiliar faces.

Memory Man was commissioned by The Basingstoke Festival and Supported by Arts Council England. The initial production was directed by John Wright and designed by The Flying Butresses. There will be further development on Memory Man in 2018 with support from Applause Rural Touring.
